County Girls Caucus reaches out to girls in rural areas aged 10-20 through highly participatory teaching methods that address pertinent issues to participants. CGC’s aim is to show girls that migration to urban slums is not a viable solution to women’s problems and that their own resourcefulness can be harnessed through thinking about personal goals at an early age.
CGC will reach out to girls through series of 4 day leadership and life skills training which culminates with every girl writing a ‘girls strategic plan for life’. It is hoped that this will help focus girls in school and therefore
- improve girl’s enrollment in secondary schools and colleges,
- reduce early marriages,
- increase women’s involvement in community development
- reduce their influx to urban slums.
