County Girls Caucus is a union (caucus) of girls in the rural community who come together at 4 day leadership and life skills training sessions with the aim of addressing issues that perpetuate women’s vulnerabilities including: low school enrollment, early marriage and teenage pregnancy and the exodus to urban slums. Based on our experience working with women through Global Bag Project, we are convinced that early intervention in the lives of girls is key to mitigating vulnerabilities & risks women encounter later in life. Research has shown that the root causes of slum problems in the urban centres in Kenya can be stemmed from the rural areas where most slum inhabitants originate from.
